   純凈的聚氯乙烯，只是一種白色的粉未，也就是說它只是一種高分子樹脂，不能用于直接加工產品；由于合成工藝路線的不同，這種樹脂粉一般分為兩類：一種是疏松型樹脂，另一種是緊密型樹脂。我們常用的聚氯乙烯膠料都是顆粒狀的，它是多組份的塑料，除了前面講的聚氯乙烯樹脂粉以外，還必須加入增塑劑增加它的流動性，加入穩定劑提高它的熱穩定性，加入潤滑劑提高它的脫模性，以及填料，著色劑，偶聯劑等；因為各組份的含量不同，就形成了各種機械性能差異很大的不同硬度的PVC顆粒；它一般用IP度數表示；PVC顆粒大體分為：軟質PVC，硬質PVC。 外觀    因PVC膠料所含的組份不同，它的外觀差異很大。有的透明如玻璃，也有不透明的；有的非常柔軟，耐折迭，有類橡膠彈性；也有硬質的，象ABS，機械性能優良，可以做工程材料。大部分的PVC有輕微毒性，但不致于一接觸就能中毒；也有食品級的PVC膠顆粒。燃燒特征   PVC難燃，離火即滅；但燃燒時，火焰上端呈黃色，下端呈綠色（綠色是氯離子的特有色譜），冒白色煙霧（白色煙霧是HCL氣體與水結合的產物）；燃燒時，膠料發軟，同時，發出刺激性的氣味。
